'68 L71 'Vette value
I went and looked at this car yesterday and I'm trying to get a handle on value.
'68 #'s matching (no paperwork) 435hp 4sp Roadster, no power options, car was purchased from an estate in the '80's and never titled (this won't be a problem). Current owner has 10+ 'vette's and he needs to thin the herd. Car runs and drives great, new suspension and brakes, frame looks good paint is fair, interior is good (needs carpet). The car just needs to be put back together with the correct stuff. I've done some research and pricing seems to be all over the place. Any educated guess on price range would be appreciated. Re: '68 L71 'Vette value
Not a Vette expert by any means, but it seems that people tend to shy away from 68's for some reason. I know they had a few design flaws and quality issues with that first year body style. Although a 435 hp car will get serious interest

The price depends on if that handsome fellow in the photo eating his own thumb comes with the car...

Re: '68 L71 'Vette value
68's seem to be less desireable than 69's for sure. Is it the right color? If so how is the paint? Assuming it is the correct color and assuming everyhting is there to put it back correct I imagine it should be priced somewhere close to 50k-60k.
I was offered a numbers 69 Red 435 rdstr recently for 80k. Very nice recent resto but not 100% correct, would have taken 10k to make it right.

Re: '68 L71 'Vette value
Car was painted the correct color sometime in the early '80's. Paint is a 10 footer. Everything looks to be with the car, I haven't checked for electrical issues and I know I'll have to get the wipers working.
Thanks, Mike |

Re: '68 L71 'Vette value
The wipers and wiper door are easy... new vaccum hoses and actuator... no problem... my 69 didn't work and I thought that it would be difficult... nope.

Should have a tank sticker... Peak through the gas filler door... carefully move the rubber seal around the filler neck and bring a long neck mirror.

Re: '68 L71 'Vette value
Check the frame at the kickups and the birdcage/ dash frame for corrosion. Are you looking for a cruiser or a NCRS car? Just looking under the hood there is a lot of money to spend if wanting to do a correct car. Alt, valve covers, exhaust manifolds + exhaust, hoses, plug wires, rad cap, exterior mirror, top. 68 has many one year only parts and there were running changes throught the year so a correct car will be a hunt for parts. #'s match? The scale is big $10-20K dependent on #'s matching etc. Corvetteforum has a lot on knowledgeable guys, maybe you can find someone nearby to look at it for you.
