AHHH!!! Man Charlie that makes me hurt down deep. the last I saw of it after I was in the army it was bad ,,not that bad though. See that rear mount antenna?I think there was 3 or 4 warranty services on that thing, they said the mufflers were melting the coax under the rear seat and their fix was if I brought it back, they were going to move the antenna to the front fender. So when it went out the last time I never took it in. I sorta liked the rear antenna, the antenna and the shifter and Shifter boot were the most service problems for me. later Clarence

Hmmm, so after 17 pages of posts, it still doesn't look like Cworkman ever got his question answered...

I think he did - he found out that his Dad's old car is alive and restored. Looks like he still has some ownership mysteries to clear up within his family, but the car itself has a clean title and is being well taken care of.

Thanks for a great story, and we got to hear from yet another original owner!

Those pre-resto pics are great. Pretty rough for a 15 year old car....

Actually still waiting on paperwork, emails and calls to be returned. I have patience and diligence. But the gears of each states DMV work at a different pace. I just dont want to foster anymore speculation or doubt on the cars ownership out of respect to current owner. When I have the history of the car from 1984 to 1978 then I will be a little more vocal. I know it doesn't give much leeway for comment, but I think it's the positive and correct thing to do.
I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend.
Regards,
Chris

Very interesting story and I am also very tuned it. Maybe my theory is wrong and someone feel free to straighten me out if I am. I think that if and when the original DMV records from back during the time period that Chris's Dad owned the car become available and if they show that the car was in his name and then if it shows that someone forged his signature (especially after his death) to obtain a lost title then that casts a black eye on the car. On the other hand If the negligent Army or whomever was responsible to get the car back to Chris's family (which obviously failed) and therefore caused the car to end up being abandoned and then someone purchased it fair and square and went through the proper channels to apply for a storage lien or rebuilders title then that favors the current owner. This is just my opinion and I sure hope we are filled in when and if the full story becomes available. I feel bad for both parties involved
