The straight one is for the later cars, my 71 vette used it, the diagonal is right for 69, don’t know about 70?

69 Z should have curved tube on the choke pull off.

I had the diagonal 212CW on my old 69 Z... I know I researched the correct element for a while before deciding on the one to install.

AS an aside.

The NCRS judging guide states that the Square mesh chicken wire is correct up to April May of calendar year 1970.

As if the fire needed more fuel... I have seen photos taken for the 1970 Road tests by Karl Ludwigson which show 70 LT1 and 70 LS6.

The road test for the 1970 LT1 shows it with a 45 deg Diagonal woven soldered chicken wire -
The Road test for the 70 LS6 Chevelle shows an expanded metal 212CW. Car appears to be preproduction as there is a 9/20/69 date scrawled on the rad support.

I always thought the square mesh was more for the Corvettes and the diagonal type for the rest??
