I heard a clip of communication to the tower on the news. The pilot said he had something up with engine 4 and wanted to return. There didn't seem to be an urgency to his request.

I have heard it is now 10 dead sadly and 3 survivors. I watched an NTSB video and the engine that went into the building appeared to have its props feathered so at least one was an issue but with the weight that was on board it should have been able to fly just fine with even two engines out. The pilot was the most experienced and had the highest hours of any known and living B17 pilot. There will end up being a reason for this airplane going down and likely was not the fault of the flight crew but one small event leading to another which eventually all added up to a crash. If not for the contact with the approach lights it likely would have landed and with only slight damage. I can imagine that the damage done to the wings and/or cockpit from hitting them ultimately led to its total demise. I have been on this plane and there was plenty of seatbelts and the crew was more than professional. My brother is restoring their FW190 and they have halted any further work on any of their planes for the remainder of the year at the very least. Everything about this tragedy is horrible.

It is a 60 year old, not a 6 liter, that is a 750ml bottle
