Holy CRAP you HAVE to buy that car, Man!!! I tried in vain to find my Dad’s old Pontiac LeMans only to be crushed to know it had been actually crushed!!

I can’t tell you how to spend your money, but man, an opportunity to own your Step Dad’s car does not come up often and will last forever. Despite what he may say, I think he’d be really stoked to see that thing restored!!!

Get it!!,

Cheers
Dave

I assume you already verified by the VIN to be 100% certain that this is / was your Step Fathers car?

First, I would make sure it is THE car.

Secondly, put in an offer. That car isn't going anywhere any time soon at $11,500.

Sad to see it in its current condition.

Buy it.

Yes, even if you bought it and just sat on it for a while as you gathered parts it would be a wonderful family investment. Maybe your kids/grandkids would like to have it some day.

I have two of my grandparents cars (75 Firebird and 71 Lincoln) and it is really cool to have my kids claim at a show that that car in front of them belonged to their great-grandparent.

(whereas my great grandparents' car was a donkey cart back in Russia)

I would echo these sentiments. On all points.

But again, it’s easy to from here.

My kids can say that The Camaro was bought new by their Grandpa and The Mustang by their Dad... it is nice to see those connections.

I hope this works out for you. I have been looking for my 1st car for 40 years or so and by chance I came in contact with a fellow selling parts. He sent me of a picture of the car he owned and it has to be the car I have been searching for. It compares with your car, rust, damage, but I left it with the current owner I want first crack at buying it when he's ready to sell. If he sells it to me I'm sure I will pay way more than it's worth but I will never miss the money, but I surely will miss not getting my hands on it again after 40years.

I echo the just buy it group. Imagine all the future memories that will be formed as you both bring the car back to life. Don't pass it up, you will be kicking yourselves!

Show him this picture and have him visualize driving it once more. I am sure he is turned off by it's current condition.

I have a 69 Z/28 I have owned since 1976 with 27xxx miles. My grandsons are arguing over who gets the 69 Opel GT.
