Default Leaf spring help !

Need help trying to figure out what rear springs to put in 68 camaro convertible ?
My car was originally a 2 speed powerglide 327 with mono leaf 10 bolt . I've got a built 350 small block with 400 hp, tremec tkx with .68 5th gear and 12 bolt posi with 355 gears that's ready to install after paint . I was thinking the assembly line correct 5 leaf rear spring that heartbeat city sells would be a good choice ! Has anyone used these springs on a 68 or 69 camaro convertible ? Thanks in advance for any recommendations. Jim

It really depends on how aggressive and frequently you will be with spirited acceleration from a standstill. There’s nothing wrong with mono leafs and if your car sat straight, I’d suggest to put them back on. Leaf choice is a preference IMHO for either. Whatever your decision, I would advise you to shop around for what company makes the best correctly manufactured springs that will put your car at correct ride height. Heartbeat doesn’t make them nor do the other aftermarket companies.

Assuming the 12 bolt you have is for multi leaf, the 3 leaf set up will be a good choice too. Single leaf 12 bolt was a '67 only axle.

Default Leaf spring help

The 12 bolt I have is for multi leaf application it did come from a 68 camaro . Trying to stay away from the single mono leaf due to wheel hop under heavy acceleration.
The 3 leaf idea sounds good lots of threads on other forums where camaro owners have mentioned they like there 3 leaf Hotchkin springs. I did talk with Eaton springs this morning they recommend a 5 leaf spring rate of 126.
Thanks for the comments... Jim

I believe with the 3 Leaf , in a multi leaf spring perch you will also need a spacer to fill up the gap from 5 to 3 leaf …

The wheel hop was a 67 issue due to the non staggered shocks. 68 and up models don’t really have the wheel hop.

Thanks (rsconv68) I think I will try the mono leaf springs on the 12 bolt ! New springs are expensive and I'm taking a chance the ride height won't be where I like the single leaf spring . Do have to add spacers on top and bottom of the spring to fill in the multi leaf perch on the 12 bolt . Looking for a comfortable ride . The single leaf spring should be good for that !

I wouldn't add any spacers to the top, the center bolt is there to seat in the cushion, which seats in the perch, to prevent the axle from sliding on the spring.
Urethane cushions will help take up some of that room, as they don't squish out like chinese rubber.

Energy Suspension makes them, and there may be others. $40 on ebay.
