Whats hitting the valve cover the rockers or the poly locks? I have Comp Cams Ultra Pro Magnum rockers and they don't hit the covers. The Poly locks on the exhaust rocker hit the covers wouldn't let the cover sit down flat on the head. I used a 5/16ths thick gasket and had the 4 exhaust poly lock hex head cut to about half the original thickness now the valve covers set down and seal.

A friend had the big boxy aluminium rockers he had to grind a corner down on the rear rocker arm to clear the factory valve cover.

I bought some cheater valve covers from NYrestomod on eBay for one of my cars, they are identical to stock chrome valve covers except they come in either 1/2" or 3/4" taller than stock and they clear Crane gold aluminum wide body rockers and lock nuts. They are also a pretty nice part, much thicker than the typical Chinese knock off valve covers.

Has anyone used these with the stock 396 A/C brakets on a 69 car? Trying to keep my original SS 396 Elcamino looking stock.

Thanks Gregg

It should work with that over the valve cover AC bracket, but you probably will have to slightly rotate the compressor away from the engine using the bracket adjustment slots and use a slightly longer belt to get the clearance.
