Default 15x5 Cragar tire choices

I have a set of 15x5 Cragars round spokes I want run on my 70 Chevelle. I know the majority are running the 6.70x15 or 7.10x15 on the 15x4’s. On the back I am going with the 275/60/15 Pro tracs. I am curious if anyone here is running the 215/75/15 pro trac front runners on their 15x5 wheels? I am trying to see the differences between the 7.10x15 verses the 215/75/15.

Thanks,
Ray

I tried a set of the Pro Trac front runners and they were not my thing at all. Very small, and the worst part is that they are formed with a high-cut rubber block or a stepped ridge that's formed on one side so letters can be cut. It really looks weird without the one side cut for lettering and forces you to mount that to the inside so people can't see it. Looks like the tire was never finished and that's how Coker ships those. (Ugggh)

I have since gone to the Champion 500 Firestones which I much prefer with the 6.40.15 size. Great looking tire, fits the wheel well nicely and looks good with Pro Tracs on the rear.

Here are the Pro Trac 5.60-15's (too small height wise) on my old 69 and a set of Firestones on TT which are a better-looking tire IMO. I think the 700 tires look too tall for street use and overfill the wheel wells. (just my opinion)

Pro Trac 5.60.15 on 4" Cragar Front

Firstone 6.40.15 on TT 5" Front

NorCam, Thanks for the information. This is my first go at the Day 2 tire set up. I’ve been going through tons of posts trying to get some ideas.

Graeme - how does the car drive with those 6.40s? I had an old set of NOS Goodyear 6.40-15s on my straight axle Nova and they were surprisingly easy to drive.

I had a set of these 6.40 Firestone's on the 70 Nova as well, and I was surprised and how well it drove with them on the front. That being said, I grabbed another pair for the Camaro. They are really decent to drive with.

I saw that another member is running the Moroso 7.10x15. How do you the Pro trac tires ride?

The pro trac ride great. I personally think they would look a little more day 2ish if they were mounted on a 10” rim. The whole tire combo looks awesome I think. I was thinking of going with the pro Trac front tires but didn’t like the fact they have that extra rubber on the side wall as someone previously stated!
