Default Made my day!

I had a smile put on my face tonight and just wanted to share it. While laying underneath the sYc Camaro tonight adjusting the E-brake, some 10 year old kid rides up on his bike and says hi. I thought, oh great, another interuption. He says, "nice Yenko Camaro". I poked my head out and said "thanks" not allowing myself to get too excited as it does say Yenko on the fender (even though he did pronounce it correctly). I then rolled out from underneath and said, "yeah but do you really know what it is to which he replied, "yeah, it's a '69 Yenko Camaro, one of approximately 201 built out of Yenko Chevrolet in Cannonsburg, PA." !!!!! To which I exclaimed, "WOW! You really know your cars," and he just shrugged his shoulders.

Then he walks into the shop where I have a '70 Chevelle convert that is nothing more than a painted shell and front clip mounted on the frame. He goes on to say, "NICE '70 Chevelle!" I then asked how the heck he knew that as there was not even a grill or bumper on the car. He replies, I could tell it was a Chevelle by the cowl hood and a '70 because of the 4 headlight core supoport..........I just about sh!t!! About this time his dad rides up and appologizes for his son. After we sit and talk a little, the dad says, "looks just like my Z-28 I used to own" and his son quickly replies, "big difference dad, the Z-28 was only a 302 producing 290 hp and these cars used the 450 hp 427."

Long story short, it was VERY refreshing to have a young (10 year old) kid come over who actually not only knew what he was talking about, but liked American muscle versus rice burners. Put a smile on my face!

I have given him an open invitation to come over anytime he wants to. My 15 year old daughter could care less about cars.

Just wanted to share something different.

Pretty neat - a rarity for sure. I bet that kid would have a good time in Collinsville in a couple weeks

Probably one of the kids Barnhart has abducted and brainwashed over the past couple of years!

Rick, see if you can get the boy's Dad to let him come to Collinsville with you. Can you imagine the conversations between him and Caleb Arone? It'll put many of us 'Old Timers" to shame!
Sounds like the hobby is in good hands afterall. In a few years Rob Clary will be an 'Old Hand' and these kids will be the new generation. AIN'T IT GREAT!!!

Dennis, there will likely be enough rumors flying without having a "little boy" tagging along as well if you know what I mean.

Neat kid though. I would imagine he would be in absolute heaven if he went to that show. I know he was really enjoying checking things out around the shop and sharing his knowledge with me.

I've got a 14yr old kid who helps me. He was 13 when he started. He has a old NOS bottle staped on his bike. He's gone from disassembly to fab, and some light painting. His baby is a 86 S10 with a warmed up 350. He'll be coming along to the reunion. He also helps crew for a friend at the drag strip. And my 4yr old grandson is pretty much shop forman. And yes he really can weld. Schonye
