Yup -- ain't the driver ... it's called traction control. We could all be Grumpy Jenkins with that system ... stab it and aim it. TAZ

What kind of mods were done to the ZR-1? 9.42 is flyin!!! I've had the itch to mod my V wagon. I would be happy at 10.99!

Since Terry was running the event he was pretty busy and I didn't get a chance to talk to him about the car. I can tell you that it was an automatic car with headers, possibly an aftermarket exhaust, an aftermarket intercooler and maybe an aftermarket air induction system. I'm not sure what else was done to it. It was also racing on drag radials. The kid can drive so I doubt if he had the traction control on. I've seen him run 8.60's on a marginal track with their COPO so it's not like he doesn't know what he's doing.

Overheard him talking with someone. He said it had head work, cam, different blower pulleys, along with a updated computer program. It was going through the traps in third gear (out of six) at 146 to 147 mph. The 9.42 wasn't a fluke either. It ran a 9.42 on Friday when it was cooler, and then another 9.42 on Saturday.

For what it's worth, that thing is running on out-of-the-pump E85 too.

Talked to Terry and Jordan today.

The transmission in the Corvette is actually a four speed automatic.

My screw up.

Still, it would be fun to stab and steer that baby to a sub-ten pass.

Here are some photos from Mecum Indy 2008.

Nice 54 Corvette had a complete C4 suspension and a 327 with dual fours and a 4 speed.

This 59 Corvette had a Downs body and a complete C4 suspension and was powered by a Z06 engine.

This 62 Corvette convertible was advertised as a factory fuel injected car with a numbers correct engine. It sold for $90K.

This 67 Corvette convertible was a 400 horse car with A/C and a 4 speed. It was bid to $80K.

This 67 Corvette convertible was a 425 horse car.

This 66 Chevy II SS was advertised as a numbers matching L79 car. It was bid to $73K.

This 70 Nova SS was advertised as a numbers matching, Canadian documented L78 car with a TH400. It only sold for $46K.

This 65 Malibu SS Z-16 had an older restoration and once belonged to C. Dwiggens. This is VIN# K169241 and was advertised as a numbers matching car. It was bid to $160K.

This 66 Chevelle SS was an L35 with a 4 speed.

This 66 Chevelle SS was advertised as a numbers matching L34 car with a 4 speed and dealer installed cowl plenum air cleaner assembly. It was bid to $62K.

This 70 Chevelle SS convertible was advertised as a 42K mile unrestored L34 4 speed car that was numbers matching. It sold for $66K.

This 70 Chevelle SS convertible was sold new at Lang Chevrolet in Xenia OH. It is an L78 car with an M21 and 4.10 rear. It was advertised as a numbers matching car that was documented with it's POP and a built sheet. It sold for $155K in 2008 and then was a part of D. Mecum's Chevelle collection that was sold in 2009 where it sold for $180K.

This 70 Chevelle SS was advertised as a numbers matching LS6 car with an M22 and 3.31 rear. It was bid to $77K.

Known as the Fuller car, this 10K mile unrestored 70 Chevelle SS convertible has an LS6 with a TH400 and 4.10 gears. It's a highly documented LA built car that was sold new at McElevey Motors in Clinton IA. It was featured in the December 1987 issue of Muscle Car Review. It was a part of the Christenholz collection and sold for $500K.

This 70 Chevelle SS convertible has an LS6 with an M22 and is also a highly documented car from the Christenholz collection. I believe this is the only documented Black Cherry LS6 convertible. It sold for $280K.

This 70 Chevelle SS LS6 with a TH400 was advertised as a numbers matching car that was documented with a build sheet. I believe this car was restored by Chris White.

This 70 Chevelle SS LS6 with an M22 was sold new at Ronald Rice Chevrolet in Abilene KS. It was advertised as a numbers matching car that was documented with a POP and built sheet. It sold for $78K.

This 70 Chevelle SS LS6 with a TH400 has been talked about on this site numerous times. It was sold new at Krumpholz in West Chicago IL and has just under 5K miles. It is a mostly unrestored car that was at least partially repainted in the 80's due to an accident. It was advertised as a numbers matching and documented car.

This 02A Van Nuys built 69 Camaro was advertised as a Z/28 with an original DZ engine and a JL8 rearend. I believe it is too early to be a factory JL8 car and there was no mention of any documentation that the car was an original Z/28. It sold for $70K.

This 69 Z/28 RS was advertised as a numbers matching car with a JL8 rearend as well. This car was bid to $78K.

This 69 Z/28 was advertised as a numbers matching car that was documented with a POP and window sticker. It was bid to $95K.

This 69 Z/28 was advertised as a numbers matching car with chambered exhaust and a JL8 rearend. I have the VIN as N693672 which would make it a September of 69 built car and therefore too late to have come from the factory with the chambered exhaust system or the JL8 rearend. I also believe the stripes should be white and not black since it doesn't have a black vinyl top. It was bid to $70K.

This 69 Camaro SS was advertised as an original L89 car with a date code correct engine. It sold for $79K.
