'69 vin
Hey guys, I just picked up a '69 427 4-bolt block. I believe it to be a "strike" block. It was cast 11/11/69 and assembled 12/8/69. LR code, 435 hp. Not decked, broach markings are present and consistent top and bottom. I'm not finding a vin stamp in either location. Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks in advance, Dave.

----If it's a 427-435 Corvette engine the serial # won't be on the bellhousing flange. It should be on the passenger pad where the broach marks are. The block must have been over the counter to not have anything on the pad.....Bill S

Thanks for the response. The pad isn't blank, it has the assembly date and LR suffix. I guess my question should have been, are these dates possible given the extended year for corvette and camaros. It's actually a double hit stamp and I didn't want to start that debate. The block has unknown history, but hasn't been through the wringer as it is still standard bore.
