Anthony, the freeways are open way more than usual. You'll be shocked. Just be careful, because it's so open people are going even faster than normal. Some nuts out there.

Yes, weird wild stuff! Two Airlines have shut down: Compass and Trans States. Those airlines were slated to close doors anyway since Trans States put the memo out a while ago that they would be closing doors April 1st. Compass lost several Major Airline feed contracts which put them in a precarious place. Those feeder airlines were on dire straights to begin with and this downturn was just the nail in the coffin, unfortunately. Sad for the guys hitting the street for sure, since I was there myself! And who knows? I might be again come the fall. As Woj and others will tell you, being a pilot is cool as snot but NEVER forget it could all go away in a snap, so have a back-up plan!!!!

Last couple of flights I did only had about 20 people on them, but it’s better than zero. But the big reason we are still flying? Cargo. The bellies are full of medical supplies and other essential needs.

Be Safe!

Cheers
Dave

That's interesting, Dave. I'm glad cargo is in the planes. I was out in Austin Friday afternoon and no traffic at 5:00 PM. That's unheard of in this town.

American Airlines down to just 13 daily flights from NYC

Quote:
American Airlines is slashing its schedule to New York City, suspending most of its flights at all three local airports.

With the schedule cuts, American will fly just 13 daily round-trip flights combined across JFK, LaGuardia and Newark airports during a temporary schedule that begins Tuesday, April 7, and runs through May 6.
Quote:
On Saturday, United announced its own major cut for New York. That included its Newark hub, where the airline pared its schedule to just 15 daily flights to nine destinations. That’s down from its previous schedule of 139 daily flights to 62 destinations. At LaGuardia, United will reduce its schedule from 18 daily flights to just two. The airline does not fly from JFK.

JetBlue, which operates a hub at New York JFK, had already announced plans to reduce its schedule there by 80%.

Drove by Cleveland Hopkins Airport today and saw a bunch of United airplanes grounded all over the place. I never saw that many sitting around there at one time.

Hey Mark, I did have to head to Anaheim today for work and I agree the highways were better but not nearly as open as I expected, felt more like a Sunday at times, which in the grand scheme of things, is still a lot of traffic compared to most places. There was no stopping on the 10 or 57 like usual, but there were a lot of cars on the road nonetheless.

I felt like one of the Covidiots out there, but I had to for work... which was the likely reason for most out there I hope.

Remember, stay safe at home when you can everyone!

Cheers all, be well.
Anthony
