At it's peak in 2004, Blockbuster Video had more than 4,500 stores in the US. Now there is just one . . . . located in Bend, Oregon (shown).

Santa Pod is the venue in which the current world drag racing record, a time of 3.58 seconds at 386.26 mph (621.61 km/h) was set by Sammy Miller in his Vanishing Point rocket-propelled funny car in July 1984.

As impressive as that is, it is not the fastest 1/4 mile time set. That record belongs to Kitty O'Neil.

In 1977 in the Mojave Desert, Kitty O'Neil piloted a hydrogen peroxide powered rocket dragster built by Ky Michaelson to the quickest quarter mile elapsed time in auto history, with a timed run of 3.22 seconds at 396 mph (637 km/h) with an average speed of 279.5 mph (449.8 km/h). This was in the desert not on a track.

If you remember a ways back I had stated that scorpions were older than sharks by about 10 million years (430M vs 420M). The horseshoe crab is even older: 450 million years.

Though they are called "crabs" they are not crustaceans. They are arthropods and have more in common with spiders than they do with crabs.

Fireflies are not flies. They are beetles. Their produced "cold light" is unique as it has no infrared or ultraviolet frequencies
