So what are some of the "holy grail" Australian muscle cars? Always wondered.

Those are very cool! Don't know that I'd like to be sitting on that differential in the rail!

I figured the Caps might help you guys out some!

As for the collector cars in OZ. We only had Ford,GM-Holden or Chrysler.
Collector king would be the 71 Ford XYGTHO Phase 3.[ 250 built only for race homoligation]
Then the 'std' XYGT. GT Falcons are the most cloned cars in Aust.
Top of the Holden heap would be the HKGTS327 or A9X Torana
Chrysler choice would be the 71-73 VH-VJ Charger RT in E38 or later E49 format.
Chrysler also built a limited run of the Charger in E55 model running a detuned 340 727 combo.
From there I guess would be any other Ford Falcon GT or Holden GTS model.
Holden
68 HKGTS 327 coupe
69 HTGTS 350 coupe
70 HGGTS 350 coupe
71 HQGTS 350 coupe
Falcon
69-70 XWGT 69 model ran 351W, 70 ran 351C engines]
67 XRGT 289W
68 XTGT 302W
72 XAGT [RPO83 and Phase4 most collectorable] Avail in Sedan or Coupe all 351C engines
73-74 XBGT Avail in Sedan or Coupe most rans 351C but with a 'softer tune' 2V cyl head.
75-77 XC GXL, coupe or sedan with the 351C option

Most Aust HiPerf cars only ran from 67-78.
Of the later cars there were fewer HP cars avail
In 78-79 Holden had a new model- Commodore [still avail today and what you see as a GTO or R8 Pontiac sedan]
Any Commodore 79-87 built by Peter Brock. [Kinda the C.Shelby of Australia]
Commodores ran the Brock name, incl Director,SS and Group 3 and the Group A.
Ford ran out of puff in 84.They stopped the Clevland eng production in 84. Only until 88-9 would Ford OZ install the 302W FI engines. All the GT Falcons of today run the Boss engines same as your Mustangs
The last run of the 351C 4bbl up until 84 in the XD & XE Falcon sedans
These incl an S Pack and the rarer ESP models.Ford OZ dropped the 'GT' ID in 77.For insurance reasons.

Other collector cars on the Holden stables incl
Torana LH & LX SLR5000s [using the GMH 5.0 ltr] And the 2 door Torana A9X limited run for homoligation.
LCGTR and GTRXU1 both theLC & LJ model XU1 are race homoligation
LJGTR and GTRXU1 XU1 ran a tweaked 186 or later 202cui engine with 3x2bbl carbs-CD Stromberg or Webber

Ford also imported the UK built V6 GT Capri and some RS2000 Escorts.
The record price paid for an Aussie musclecar was around $1M before the global turndown. That same car would be worth 50% or less at the moment I guess.
Average collector cars here can be had for $100K to $200K. Clones or lesser orig cars under $100K

What works for the aussie car collector is that being a small country meant that fewer limited edition musclecars were actually made. eg 250 req'd for race homoligation.
Other lesser GTS and GT models are around but approx only 10% in built numbers to the USA equivilent

cheers Dave

Was wondering if I was the only one thinking that straddling the pumpkin was a bit risky.....so much for "good vibrations"

Thank you Dave! Looks like a great show, I'd love to see thaose cars in person. For me, it would be like entering the Bizzaro world of car shows. Everything would be fresh, new and exciting. Different is good!
