Not at the Assembly plant proper (which is still producing full size trucks), but at the General Motors Assembly Research Center (GMARC) which was on the north east corner of the property. That is where the above photo was taken.

Even when I worked at Flint Assembly (starting in 1979) we would have classes, special builds or events at the facility. The pre-production launch teams had offices in that building (although - they were never there, because they were out on the road launching product).

Sadly - the building was torn down within recent memory and is now part of the parking lot.

This photo was taken in the same building.

The master on top is lined with "Keller tape", which is like masking tape, and is intended to provide approx. .007" additional material on the die to allow for hand polishing and fitment.

Would the Motorama car have a vin #? Also, I remember reading (maybe on this board) that while the Motorama car had Corvette hubcaps, the first several 53's came off the line with regular 53 Chevrolet hupcaps because the proper ones weren't ready. I'm sorry, I don't remember the exact number. This has been shown in many assembly line pics.
