The news here tonight announced that AC will no longer make spark plugs here. They have been made here for over 100 years.

Hey Tony, How many people are going to lose their jobs because of that?

Sam..They won't say yet. News figures about 1000. The Local Union for AC figures for every AC job lost, it affects 6 non GM workers. That will be another big hit for Flint.

Newspaper today says 300 jobs gone by Dec, another 100 by July. Looks like they are going to close all operations in Flint. Internal memo was leaked to the Detroit Free Press.

I feel that GM thumbed their nose at customers and their problems for too long. In the late '70s and early '80s friends made a killing doing cam changes in 305s. It was a big problem with no help from GM. This is only one problem that customers got stuck with. Now that GM is building some quality cars, customers are too gun shy to buy....no matter what J. D. Powers says. I wonder if GM can hold out long enough to get the ship turned around. I hope so because I work there and see the efforts people on the floor put into building a quality product. I still think we should have a retro '69 Chevelle in the mix. With the Corvette 427 we could even have a COPO Chevelle. I'd be the first to put in an order for one. It would have to be a six speed. I'm sure that Bob, Al, and others wouldn't be far behind.

AC was an American institution!!!!--- --I just hope it's not gonna take a foreign entities foresight to turn GM around--I'd hate to see the day we'd have to pay an import tax on a COPO Chevelle made in Japan--------

I'm sitting here watching a piece on the news about Chinese product market share....they just showed a nice wooden sign that says "Made in America" turn it over and..you guessed it...made in China...we have lost 18,000 jobs to China alone this year they said...most textile production and much electronics there now..

Amazing what they can do with a 3 billion captive work force. Hard to compete with that.
