Default Garnet Red Yenko Chevelle

Does anyone know the true number of Garnet Red Yenko Chevelles? I am hearing 7 and 12 and only count 7 on the Yenko list but people are telling me there are more that are not on the list. Anyone have a better answer? Please help if you can.
Rick

There are ~18 VIN's that we ( I ) don't know the color. Those VIN's were not sourced from the Yenko Inventory Sheets (which had color codes) but rather from the NHRA justification sheets that Yenko had the 'selling' dealers complete. These justification sheets did not specify color, just the VIN and first owner's name - which was skeptical!!!

Yes Don used that information to make it appear he sold the # of Yenko Chevelles needed to qualify for NHRA. The Chevelle never qualified so perhaps those sheet were made-up rather than real COPO cars.

Bummer, I remember hearing that now. I think I will stick with the 7 count as those are known. This is for a magazine article and I wanted it to be accurate which is why I asked. Thanks to both of you.

There were "probably" more the 7 GR Yenko Chevelles because the 7 vins listed look like all early vins.

It you look at some of the other colors, there were early and late vins in the same color.

I think the cars were ordered in batches by color because of the paint process but may have been 2 batches of the same color or some late cars ordered not in the first batch

Vince E may have the color totals in his paperwork but not sure.

All I can add is that Mishawaka Gates Chevrolet had a brand new red Yenko Chevelle in their dealer prep area when I was there for a Jenkins/Strickler event.

Don't recall a vinyl top. Too long ago. Think I still have the handout flyer around somewhere though.

1969 COPO's Chevelles are listed in my NHRA classification guide and also listed on NHRAracer.com. What difference would there be whether Yenko sold the car or some other Chevy dealer sold it?
