One hour to go, and someone with zero bid history is the sole bidder

So how did this go from an opening bid of $70k to a minimum bid of over $350k?

Reminds one of the red z16 10 or so years ago on ebay that bid to $999,999.00 (reserve not met) lol. Even though the bid was 5 times what the car was worth

There is another thread on this car here. Its covered here.

I think the seller sold off ebay and went to close the auction and couldnt so he panicked an threw a high price thinking nobody would bid and some joker must have bid.

I'm sure he could have closed the auction because it's not unusual to see auctions closed prior to their scheduled ending with the explanation that the item is no longer for sale, or words to that effect. Of course then eBay would want their take! I'm no expert on eBay, but I didn't think you could change certain terms of the auction once the auction had started, i.e. raising the price to some ridiculous level. If eBay is paying attention, I don't think they would be fooled by such a move.

Every time I list a car or big ticket item on ebay, I always list in on local CL at the same time. I add this to the ebay listing:

"This item is listed locally. I reserve the right to end this listing early if the item sells locally."

If I have a reserve, and reserve is met, I just let the auction run its course.
