1) The (current all RED) 69' Camaro race car in WA state, is long time owned
by JIM BRUNNS (sp?). I do not know and cant prove that he sold the VIN tag out of my old C/SM 69 Drag car. Jim B changed the paint from my multi color\ C/SM race car to his current all Red. Jim B knows his car is made from many ZL1 pieces The WA state drag car is the one I built from the junk yard shell and ALL the other ZL1 bolt on pcs including front clip, doors deck, sub frame and interior. 2) The #27 ZL1 shell butchered by Thayne Porlier (Tacoma,WA) was given by me to John C (cant even remember correct spelling). I can possibly imagine that shell was ever built into anything. It would be beyond my belief to think the original shell is still laying around somewhere.......... 3) IF somebody reading wants to post the 69 Camaro RED drag car as it exists today (with VIN TAG missing/empty hole) send me an email so I can send you the pictures you can resize to fit this sites mediocre software.

Chuck, just to clarify. We are talking about three different cars. You had the original #27 ZL1 that got hacked up, and the VIN# was then transfered to the junkyard shell for your drag car that is or was owned by brunns. Then some how the #27 VIN# was removed from the brunns camaro and is now on the BJ #27 ZL1. So the #27 VIN# has been on three different camaro bodies. And you are not sure if the original shell still exists. Does this sound correct? This is very important information if someone wants to see if the original body still exists. Thank you chuck!

Photos Chuck asked for help posting.

Note that the trim tag on the engine photo from the 80's is a LOS 57-57 tag 712 interior and also appears to be a Muncie 4 speed car. Last edited by cook_dw; 01-14-2019 at 04:51 PM. |

* "Oh what a web we weave".....
* Thank you Chuck for all the honest info....."honesty IS and ALWAYS has been the best policy. The B-J wording does say rebody with/and "Non OEM" trim tag. * 305 CI back then was a combo built for C/SM for Weight vs. CID. Likely a big bore, short stroke high-revving "screamer"; NOT the same 305 used in current Stock Eliminator.

DW31S, You are correct as my "305" was 3" Stroke x 4.030 Bore built by the
very well known Bobby Warren from North Carolina. The engine had Lee Shepard Heads and all the usual good parts.........I now believe Bobby knowing that I was a "nobody" class racer from Seattle with minimal experience.....he built the engine safe to last and not as fast as it could have been..... NWYenko aka Jim, Did you know I sold the turn key C/SM 69' Multi Colored racer (with #27 VIN Tag) to Allen Martin Chevrolet in Bremerton, WA for $8500.....I'm thinking Dave Barcelon had it next and then maybe Jim Brunns ?????????
