Default 1968 Camaro Z28

Going to look at a 1968 Z28 , the car has been sitting since 1978. Original engine is gone but possibly the transmission and 12 bolt rear end are there, the body has rust around rear wheels and front driver's fender is damaged. I don't know much about 68 Z 28,s and not sure what it's worth, any feedback would be helpful.

Take pictures, check the axle code and inside the glove box door for the 15" tire sticker.

Look for un molested parts; 4 leaf springs, Orig Muncie Speedo Hole in firewall, 4 piston Power brake set up with all the assoc special parts, Trans Tunnel Hole reinforcement ring, a myriad of Z specific parts, Coded unique to 68Z, Alt, Dizzy, Pulleys, Rad, Shifter, wire holders, power brake hose support, basically get Jerrys Book and be very cautious since the 68's are a tough unit to document.

Bear in mind that no matter how much you spend on the restoration, it will never be an original engine car.

Regardless of condition, always worth less and harder to sell.

Personally, with the MO engine gone, I would treat the purchase as a stock 68. I would not bite on the hype from the seller.

Unless it had paper illustrating something like cowl plenum and headers with 4.88 without the engine it's going to be difficult to recoup any outlay.
