1968 Chevelle SS 396 in Carolina Blue
I remember reading that there were a certain number of 69 Camaro's that were painted this color as part of a regional marketing campaign in the Carolina's, but I don't recall reading much about this color on Chevelles. Can anyone comment on this?

There's been a few threads on this subject here over the years, here's one link below. Note the TT Paint Code 2393-2 of the '68 mentioned in the thread, slightly different than the subject TT 2392-2. https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=80500 ~ Pete .

Why does this 68 SS Chevelle have a 69 style optional gauge package? It should have a roller tach...…Bill S

Good catch Bill. The housing appears to be an original, but that's not where the tach belongs in a 1968 Chevelle. I see that this car was not originally equipped with factory gauges.

Seller mentions in the comments that the gauge cluster is a repro.

What is the general opinion of the engine stamp? Looks kind of strange to me.

Looks like what was originally stamped XG? suffix was stamped over with ET.
POP says T0606ET, so who knows. Maybe a mistake at Factory?

Carolina Blue was not limited to Camaro or Chevelle.. in fact, in its time.. The NC region was painting everything this NON Factory color when an order was placed by a dealer for enough of them... Pick Up Trucks, Mail Trucks, you name it!
The Carolina Blue 66 SS I sold a few years ago was numbers matching and TRIM TAG showed - - for paint code. |

Mike, that’s the first Carolina Blue ‘66 Chevelle that I’ve seen. Neat car!
