Default LS-7 454 Blown Head Gasket Motor Value

Hello, just trying to get an idea as to the value of a GM crate motor LS-7 that has a blown head gasket on drivers side. Got oil in radiator and and water cylinders. Was only ran a few miles after it was discovered. Original long block but after market intake. Looking to buy it possibly. Thanks.

Is it a 72 or 73 motor? I'd say 5,000-6,000

Hello, no its a 75 motor. Appears to have been apart before the rods are numbered, not GM gaskets, its still standard bore with all the original parts including the cam. It was in a Chevelle that just sold at BJ a few weeks ago that never ran right. Being replaced with a street able motor. Thanks.

The rods would have been numbered from the factory, and as far as I know, the LS-7 was sold as a short block with no tin,so non GM gaskets would be the norm. Guys still have them out there brand new for under 3 grand,my friend just bought an brand new LS-7 short block still in the cosmoline for $1900. That was a 1985 engine. Until you fix it,it isn't worth any more then the sum of the parts. Nothing from a 1972 LS-7 has any numbers matching relationship to a rare or value able car. If you fix it and get it to the point where it can be a good running long block,it might be worth $2500 as a used engine.
