Default Engine pad stamping

Hello I am looking at this Camaro but I am not familiar with Flints pads in 1967. I noticed there was a mistake on the pad versus the actual vin number. Did they stamp the vin number upside down or is this a re stamp mistake. This is a three owner pace car that needs restored. Would the mistake cause a problem with judges etc. thinking that it is not the born with block? Thanks

Its Ok.

Guy who loaded the gang stamper mistook an 8 instead of a 3 when he loaded the holder.

I've seen a few 67 Camaro VIN upside down on LA built. I would say it's good.

My gut says in and of itself an upside down VIN on the engine pad is while not typical something that happened more frequently than you would think. For years I was told it signified a line stoppage. Not sure it can be proven. But as the old saying goes that’s the, rumor.

If I remember right, just about every LA built 67 SS 350 I've owned, had the vin upside down. I just thought, that's how they stamped the new 350 engine. And, I had mostly 4 speed cars?
When I saw the down vin, I always knew it was an authentic stamping.

Did the VN plant often leave out the L from the partial VIN in 67?

For what's worth, the VN plant did some strange things in the early '60s. They used two types of fonts and sometimes one L leading the sequence number and sometimes three Ls. This indicates two different gang holders. I have no data about what they did from '65 on.
