1965 Mercury Comet Caliente Convertible v8/stick
Surviving unrestored 1965 Comet Caliente convertible, I believe I’m the third owner, and have had it since 2007. Sold new in Pueblo, Colorado to a woman who later brought it to arid Eastern Washington and kept it for 35 or 40 years. Never wrecked, no notable rust ANYWHERE. Dashboard, steering wheel and most of the trim is excellent. Paint is buffed through in a few areas, and the tops of the fenders have old touch ups (belt buckle damage? I don’t know-metal is great). C code 2bbl 289/3sp column shift, 3.00 open 8” rear. Manual steering and brakes. I added dual master cylinder and ‘65 Mustang-style disc brakes in the front. Medium Ivy Gold Metallic with Ivy Gold vinyl interior. Early car, built October 24, 1964 at the Lorain, OH plant. One of just 6,035 convertibles built that year, all were Caliente trim level (there were no Cyclone converts in ‘65). Shows 7825 miles, has rolled over once (107,825). Runs great, but motor has never been rebuilt, so there’s some blow by evident (been that way since 2007). Top is white and old, works great but has shrunk a little with some frayed edges, and could stand to be replaced. Windshield has a couple bullseye chips, but is date coded 1964, so I’ve just left it. I’ve added a full set of Cyclone simulated chrome wheel covers, but the original ‘64 style (NOT ‘65 style-they were still burning up inventory apparently) dog dish caps are included. I would love to find this one a good caretaker. Located near Seattle, WA. $14,900.

Love it! Those chrome caps look perfect on it. Seems like a lotta bang for the buck here...GLWS.

Not a convert guy, but I can't imagine you will have any trouble getting that price for a car that nice and original. Seems like a steal in today's market...

That is awesome, especially for the $$. I just have to point out there is a Nissan Skyline in the background of the first pic. This is probably the only instance in the history of the universe where a Comet Caliente and a Skyline were captured in one picture. That's all.
