Default '65 Malibu SS, California Black Plate Project

I fondly remember seeing cars like this in the mid '90s when I was going to college in LA - they seemed to be everywhere and we didn't know how good we had it.

This one looks like a worthy resto project - orig 250hp 327 and 12-bolt rear, with some good options.

"we didn't know how good we had it."

You can say that again. I've never noticed a cowl tag with the lacquer reference before, but there is a lot I haven't seen on old cars.

Yep! It is Jeff.

Thanks for the call out Tony, I do think it's a good project. Rear quarter panel, roof, and rear window channel need love as well as the drive train of course.

This is a complete restoration project, but it's a neat car IMHO.

If anyone's interested, ping me - I've got at least 100 more pics.

Let me know if anyone wants to come by and look at it or take it for a test push.

Cheers all, and thanks.

That car was very striking when new. White on white with turquoise trim.

I wondered that too... since it was the first year for the 12 bolt, could they have just decided to put it in all 1965 Malibu SS / Chevelle models? I'm sure they had no idea just how popular and famous The 12 Bolt would become...

Hi again Gang,

I took a few months and got it back running & driving and it's licensed and back on the road - and still for sale!

New eBay ad: https://www.ebay.com/itm/143504997346 - check the ad for what I did to it recently.

I'll have it at the Pomona Swap Meet this weekend too.

Cheers all!
Anthony
