“If It’s A Good Pedal Car…It’s A Miracle”
This authentic 1990 Miracle Pedal Car “Indy Racer #68” is fully documented and one of the 100 built by Hot Rod legend Richard Graves of Long Beach, California. This rare piece has been with the original owner for the last 32 years until now. It’s truly a museum piece.

A gentleman by the name of Steve Pennington started the Miracle Pedal Car Company in the late 80’s. Steve displayed a concept pedal car at the AACA Hershey Region meet in 1988. It was noted that a total of 100 were going to be built. Each Miracle Pedal Car was individually made with a hand-formed aluminum body, pedal and chain mechanism and steering wheel that actually turns. The cast aluminum grill, chrome tailpipe, printed gauges and simulated brake handle add true character as do the 15 ˝ wheels with pneumatic tires. A custom paint job finishes each car with bright graphics and pin striping. Each would have a padded seat. As the documentation indicates the price was $2,500.00 with a $200.00 deposit. As indicated on letter dated July 14th, 1989 he went through a divorce and decided to discontinue the development of the pedal cars. As indicated on letter dates August 21st, 1989 Hot Rod legend Richard Graves of Long Beach, California took over the company. His inspiration stemmed from the Indy cars built by the likes of racing icons such as Harry Miller in the 1930’s. By this point in his career, Richard had already established himself in the Hot Rod world. One of his most notable works being the Linda Vaughn Hurst T-bucket, a 1915 Ford Touring T Hot Rod used in advertising with Miss Hurst Golden Shifter (Linda Vaughn) and the Hurst girls in the mid 70’s. Richard who started building Hot Rods out of his 1,000-square-foot home garage in the mid 60’s. He opened his first shop in Long Beach in 1988 and started a limited production run of the Miracle Pedal Cars in the 90’s. As the Hammacher Schlemmer Spring of 1992 catalog with the Miracle Pedal Car on the cover indicates the price was increased to $6,500.00. This catalog is included. While a few were built to completion, Richard never built as many as he had originally intended. The true production number is believed to be 100 or less.

Miracle Pedal Car “Indy Racer #68” was ordered by a gentleman named Jim Sfetko who lives in Missouri at the AACA Hershey Region meet in 1988. The price was $2,500.00 with a $200.00 deposit. A total of six letters from Steve Pennington and Richard Graves from 1989 to 1990 are included. These letters document the change of ownership of the Miracle Pedal Car Company from Steve Pennington to Richard Graves. The letters also document all behind the scene production issues and production details. The Miracle Pedal Car was only offered in the colors of Red, White, Yellow, Orange or Blue. However, the gentleman who ordered #68 insisted Black with an apple green pin stripe, gold leaf numbers and a beige leather seat pad. Richard agreed after sending an additional deposit. The original sales invoice and credit card receipt for the first deposit are included.

Miracle Pedal Car “Indy Racer #68” is one of the best known examples to exist. It’s been with the original owner since new and treated with the best of care. It’s hard to imagine but it’s already over 30 years old and a classic. MS CLASSIC CARS was fortunate enough to purchase it from the original owner Jim Sfetko in January of 2022.

The original credit card receipt for deposit, Sales Invoice, six letters, two copies of advertisements, Hammacher Schlemmer catalog, T-shirt and jack stands accessories are included. This opportunity is truly a MIRACLE.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Width – 31”
