Default Ronnie Hawkins

Passed at 87.Ronnie came up to Canada, from Arkansas,in the late 1950's.He played a part in R&R history. In the early '60's his backup band was the Hawks. They left him to backup Bob Dylan on his very historic 1966 tour. Then the Hawks, led by Robbie Robertson morphed into The Band.RIP Ronnie.

Short story..
My boss who passed away in 2009 or so had a completely original and matching #'s car that he had purchased from Hawkins at one point in the late 1990's as they were friends and my Boss had flown him and his band up to Canada to put on shows for him at his large estate home a few times.
It was a black 70 Chevelle SS454 LS6 car with white stripes, flapper hood, black bucket interior, and all in all a beautiful car - all restored.. perfect stance etc. etc..
Boss went thru a divorce in the early 2000's and had quite a car collection at his place and asked me to take a look at the Chevelle thinking it was (as he understood from Hawkins) a numbers matching and original car, and told me he was considering for space concerns selling it, to cover some of his legal bills from the divorce proceedings - so I did..
Turns out as nice as the car was, it had a NOM 454 LS6 and the transmission wasn't original to the car either!
It may not even been a SS454 originally either - as I didn't delve into it all that much past that point as it kind of obviously disappointed him and burst his bubble when it came to what he thought he could recover on his original investment to put towards his expenses..
I think he kept it but it was only about a year and a bit later that he passed away and it along with most all of his cars got sold anyway by his estate.
Hawkins was a friend - but not that great of a one I guess!
Same old 'buyer Beware' deal thru friends or whoever!

Was Ronnie related in any way to Screamin' Jay Hawkins?
