1969 Z28 DZ 302 Block 3970010 E139 Date Code
I originally bought this bare block from a member on this site.
It has had all the machine work done by R&L Machine in Dover, NH, and it is ready for assembly. It has been baked, blasted, magnafluxed and jet cleaned. It has new cam bearings installed, as well as block plugs. It has been bored and honed with a deck plate .030" over, and the mains have been align honed. No expense was spared, using one of the best machine shops in the area. I had this block fully assembled with JE Pistons, Manley Rods, and a 30-30 cam- intending to install it in my 02B 69 Z28. I subsequently found another block from another member on this site that matched my cars build date, and decided to swap the rotating assembly into that block. This block has been coated with cosmoline and stored in a plastic bag with desiccant. It's in primo condition. I have $3K into this block, and will sell it for that. Shipping shouldn't be problem, I'm sure we could work something out. I might even deliver it within a reasonable distance (say <200mi) Last edited by 3X24SPD; 01-25-2021 at 11:02 PM. Reason: typo |

Hello, I'm really interested-
What would be the correct build date range for this block & Vin#?? Would VIN# N664689 be long after this? car build on Data plate is 06A Would love to hear where this falls in the production schedule overall. Thanks Jerry |

Thank you for posting that VIN, I never thought to type that in. Wouldn't it be great if someone googled their vin and the search results sent them right here to this site and their original block for sale!

Hi Jerry, I'm not really a numbers expert. Maybe one of the guys here will chime in and give you an answer on that. This engine has a first week of June assembly date, which is the same as your cars data plate. Couple of days apart might be a pretty good match. Bill

Jerry, your vin number would be 4-5 days later in production. I don't think you could ask for a closer match in terms of dating. If you are missing your original block, this would be very very close and a great buy for you.
