I've driven 66 from the Santa Monica pier to Oki City plus stretches of MO and IL.
My favorite is Kingman to the Colorado river. An extended stop in Oatman is a must. - Bill W

Springfield, Illinois
My first 25 years were in Springfield before I moved west.
I still and will always have my roots and thoughts in the Midwest. There are so many things about Route 66 that is true Americana, but my favorites are the cool cozy Motels offering TV and Refrigerations. Plus the old rickety steel bridges loaded with patina. Doesn’t get any better.

My neighborhood streets growing up in grade school, junior high and high school were named after Generals in the Civil War.
The street we lived on was Hooker Street. 🙄
