He is one of few non-racers mentioned in Smokey Yunick’s book. Floyd Garrett bought Smokey’s ‘66 Chevelle race car V3.0 in 1985.

Met him at Barrett-Jackson some years ago. Mentioned the high praise from Smokey and he just laughed.

A sad day for our hobby.

Saw Floyd at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin Mich Super Chevy Show years back. He had some great cars and knew his stuff. RIP Floyd, you will be missed.

Sad news. I was fortunate enough to meet and talk with him at several Super Chevy shows in the 80s and 90s. RIP.

Floyd took his own car down off of his display pedestals and had us put the Cuda up on them to make the owner happy. My preference was to show the owner the door but Floyd was just plain calm class. Miss you Floyd.

Boy do I remember this. I didn't realize that was Floyd! Rest in peace, sir!

Always made it a point to visit Floyd's Museum when I was going through Tennessee.
He will be missed.

----Yes, Rick! That's my dumb ass trying to figure out my wife's camera. Did you get a pic of my 70 SS Chevelle convert too that weekend (Silver with white stripes). I still miss that car, and as I remember Floyd said good things about it. I had already heard of him before that weekend but we hadn't met before.
----I probably could have been blackmailed over that photo, so thank you for keeping it mostly under wraps!....Bill S

I knew of Floyd for a long time and remember his cars from the magazines. I had the opportunity to visit his museum in 2014. He and another gentleman sat with me for what seemed like hours (in a good way). We had a great chat!!! I was so excited because they were asking me all about PSMCDR, I didn’t expect to have anything to contribute to the conversation but on the contrary.

After a nice chat Floyd and I went around from car to car and filled up some soft tires and the like. I have since met the owner of the yellow Torino Cobra that had a flat time every week according to Floyd :-)

A real gentleman, and he will be missed. I didn’t know him well but I was very impressed by him.

I visited his Museum in Ten. and spoke to him there. Then a few years ago I left The Stephens Center after MCACN and he happened to be walking out at the same time. I talked to him while we walked back to the hotel. Nice Guy... RIP
