I’m using one of them in my 1970 396/350. Car was built in Canada.

So do you think that you would get full points for authenticity if the car was judged?

I guess it depends on the judge. I’m no expert in restoration… I’ve been told when the engines when assembled they got the embossed oil filter. Once you got your first oil chance you would get the service replacement. Still correct as it’s a GM product.

Let’s say one of you tail pipes was lost a few months after you bought the car. Once replaced you will get one with the part number. Originals from the assembly line did not have numbers.
Don’t think you would get points deducted for a correct GM replacement.

Here is a sample of an embossed oil filter. I’m removing it from my engine and keeping it as a friend gave it to me. These are hard to find and cost mucho dinero. Just my .02

I just wondered if you were restoring a car to be judged. That specific filter was not made at the earliest in 1971, so it would not be correct (numbers wise) for pre 71.
