There used to be a show on Discovery about these guys doing this. I don’t remember anyone getting inside one though. One of the guys from Poison is into Rockets.

That's right. He was a crazy card carrying member of the flat earth society, but in-spite of the inherent crazy he had guts.

Being on TV brings out the super crazy in some people and fate caught up with him.

Entertaining to watch till it killed him that is.

Shades of Evel Knievel,do they know why his parachute deployed and cut loose so early?

Something I read was they wonderd if the parachute caught something on the launch vehicle. Would not be a good way to go

I was told he embraced the flat earthers simply as a way to get funding.

That's what his partner in crime said. It brings in the media.

Every pic I’ve ever seen was flat.

Video totally reminded me of Evel's Snake River attempt, which I'm sure inspired his activities at some level- Like every guy around 50 who jumped BMX bikes over plywood ramps propped up by cinder blocks or whatever back in 70's!
It looked like the chute blew out right at take-off and unfortunately separated from the craft. Luckily for Knievel, the parachute deploy ruined his upward velocity, but remained functional so he survived. Many people scoffed at the stunt in the aftermath, but don't realize that the X2 Skycycle missed the river at bottom of canyon by a few yards. Had he landed in the river, most likely would have drown.
Anyways, RIP Mike- Condolences to those he left behind as well.
