Default '71 Boss 351 Mustang, Born With Engine, Cool Patina

1 of 1806 produced...way cool car. A little crusty underneath, and I'm not in love with the upholstery, but definitely a rare and fast machine.

My cousin had one of these back in the 80's. He took me for a ride in it on the back roads of Birdseye, IN. That thing would scream!

They are Killer I have owned a few. This Green one was my first car when I was 15 years old. My friend Ron still has it. I just rebuilt the original engine for him last year. With some cheater work these things are screamers.

My cousin's car was green as well. The hoods on these cars were way cool.

WOW KEN! Those are impressive numbers, what compression did you build it to? Original 11:1 or higher? Is he running the Strip Dominator and headers on the street??

12to1 Factory D1ZX-CA with .500 removed from divider, yes headers, everything else looks stock. It made 590HP with the stock intake manifold.

Wow!! I used to dislike these cars in my youth, now I love them!!
A guy I knew in HS bought one identical to the Green one shown in summer of '84.
Kept saying how fast it was and how high it would rev out. The car was bone stock and had 90K+ miles on it and he took me for a ride. He was more into sports than a diehard "Car Guy" so bought it more to be cool than anything else. Anyways, he wants to impress me in front of all the guys one night at the Dairy Queen, I hop in and he proceeds to scream the engine and just drop the clutch- It fishtailed and bucked around a bit, he managed to keep it in our two lanes of 4 lane road. The motor just wailed as he shifted hard into 2nd and then a ham-handed third gear. He finally let-off and we returned to the 'Queen.
Looking for approval, I told him the car was fast and had a lot of potential BUT not to over-rev that engine being untouched with "high mileage". He was cocky and wanted to race my '69 Z/28, which was running 107mph in the 1/4 back then. We never got a chance to race, as I heard through grapevine that his timing chain snapped during another 7,000rpm assault and messed up the motor pretty bad a few weeks later. I never heard of or saw that car again. Good Times.

My Buddy Dan is the Original owner Of a Yellow Boss 351. When I fist met him, it was 100% stock, At the time I had a Grabber Blue Boss 351 mine had headers, 750 Holley and a mild cam, I even lowered the compression down to 9.6 to1.. I talked him into going to the Drags. He ran 13.90S Again All Stock.. I was running 12.70s with a Very mild Low compresion Boss motor.

They just look so darn big compared to the 69-70 models.

How much more does it weigh compared to a 70?
