Default Cragar SS Skinnies

Looking to buy a pair of 16" I know they are rare but will consider 15x4.5 as well. These will need to be unilug unless someone just happens to have a set 5x4.5 Ford/Mopar. Would also consider a set of 16x6 or 16x7. Chrome must be driver grade or better. I want to day 2 my 68 CJ and have a nice set of 16x8 rear Cragars.

thanks

Cragar never made 16 x 4, 6, 7 or or 8" SS back in the day except they did make a drag 16 x 10 for the 16" drag slicks that were available back then. i.e. Hot Wheels Duster and Cuda F/C's.. I have never heard of a Cragar 16 x8 that was made back in the day and they are not in the Cragar catalogs I have unless someone had a set made up special.

How are you measuring the wheel you have?

The 16" SS that is available now has only been out for 3-5 years and it is not considered a Day 2 wheel in the strict sense...more of a loose retro look.

Yea, Why 16" wheels? Back then the funny cars, fuelers and maybe the gassers ran 16". Correct me if I am wrong guys. Trying to think if I "ever" saw a 16X4 Cragar SS but ya never know.

You will be looking a long time....might find Noah's Ark first.

I think the Hot Wheels cars used 15 x4 or 15 x6 up front and I have never seen 16" front runner tires except drag slicks.

The rim width on these 16" rears is 8" the outside to outside on the lip is 9". They have 28x11.5x16 tires. Maybe they were custom made.

I could use a 15x4.5 with the a taller front tire to keep a decent stance.

The input is appreciated

Can you post a pic? I have never seen nor heard of a 16 x8 before...but Cragar could have made a one off set ss they would make custom sizes back then but they were pricey. They would be used for drag slick use as no street tires came in 16" back then that I am aware of.

The 16 x10's Cragars I have seen would use a 15 x 10 center but the rim center would have an extra high kickup for the extra rim diamter.

They are not that old and sound like the era the 10's were from. Currently have Hoosier 28x11.5 tires mounted. I bought them from a racer that likely had them custom made as most of his stuff is top flight. They have a 5 inch BS and were on his Mustang Drag Car. I beleive Hoosier measures the side wall regarding the 11.5 as the patch is right at 10. Maybe I should not have used the day 2 term as this is your world lol. I am in GM territory trying to get my correctly restored 68.5 to look like it did a few years after the sale and was raced. I really like your Day 2 theme here and trying to cross. reference to my Mustang. To be technically correct some White painted rears with Keystones would be more fitting like many of the lightweights but some did use the Cragar SS. I ran G60 Polyglas before the resto but bored with this particular rim and the F60 is not cutting it anymore.
