I think most people have had enough BS from Ebay. I bought my last part off Ebay 6weeks ago. Product was in California, I live in Canada, they charged me sales tax. I called the seller, they were quite apologetic, stating that Ebay was doing ALL the paperwork of collecting $$, the seller could not take the state tax off, and he said that they would not get paid for 30 days at least AND they would not receive the tax to remit to the state...

Ebay getting to big for their boots!!!!!

Then on top of the state tax I had to pay. I also paid the shipping, no problem I understand. So all the big shippers are doing this (Fedex, UPS, USPS, DHL)... I pay the shipping from the seller to me right... The latest scam is WHEN it gets to the border even if you have paid the duty/taxes, they are holding your parcel RANSOM until you pay the ADDITIONAL shipping/tax/duty from the border to your house. Or they WON'T deliver it!!

So a part that is $100 USD ends up easily close to $200 by the time I get it, 1-4 weeks.
( Canadian exchange rate 20%+shipping+duty+brokerage plus whatever they JAM you for from the border!@!@!)

Covid 19 the catchall reason for everything the past year..........

How's yourrrr day Going..........

Default Getting ripped off

I remember going to Murphy's Speed Shop and getting about anything you needed for your car on the shelf. Nowadays everything goes through 10 different hands before you get it and it cost an arm and leg!!!
I quess this is what's called progress in America.

Here's another ebay tidbit. They now have something called enhanced ads. Essentially they bump you up on searches so your auctions get more views. It says if your item sells you'll be charged 5 or 6 percent final value fee. What they forget to mention is that is in ADDITION to the almost 14 percent you are already going to pay if your item sells. Best decision I ever made was to leave. A few years back, many of my 10 day auctions would have as many as 5000 hits in that time. . Now the few things I have on there dont get more than 180 to 200, so something is changing .

I believe the reason you are getting less hits on your items is there are less people buying original parts, cheap repro's have brought the prices down too. I've been on Ebay for 20 years now and noticed a big decline in sales over the last 5-6 years. Also I've been a swap meet vender for 38 years and have noticed a big decline in swap meets too. Just my 2 cents worth.

The prices on many
rare parts has gone up incredibly is the past year or so. And finding those parts has become challenging at any price. I guess it depends what you are selling.

I recently sold something on ebay after a break from selling of over a year.
I was amazed when they directed me to ship as soon as the buyer payed them, but then withheld paying me for several weeks. Fees were almost 20% on the total and included fees on the shipping, which was calculated by ebay based on the item size and weight. So effectively I shipped at a loss.
I vowed there and then I would never sell again on ebay. It's a disgrace how greedy they have become. Reminds me of the photobucket debacle of several years ago.

Tim. They are charging sellers 20 % of the sales tax they collect direct from the buyers as well!! That may not apply to you in Austrailia . I also just found out that for the canadian and other out of US buyers that have a US address on thier ebay accounts/ ebay is charging the SELLERS 3% additional fee to cover the fact there may be more fraud from these buyers ...It is totally out of control
