Default Chevy orange engine paint ?

OK guys - again ..... EASY on me here !!!

I'm gearing up to build the 427 for the Biscayne, and I may be able to swing the 427 build in parallel with the Certified motor put-together for my W-31. I'm gathering 427 parts as we speak .........

The newbie Chevy question of the day: What's the best, and most correct flavor of Chevy orange engine enamel ?

I know with Olds motors, the correct Olds gold engine enamel is about $20/can. The other, *off-the-shelf* paints are no where near the proper *hue*. With Mopars, there are several acceptable suppliers out there.

I may have this thing ready to do battle in the spring at the Factory Stock race.......

Well, I was gonna wait for the correct answer from someone, but we just spray bomb it. We have a quart of real paint, but it's been on the shelf for years...it's a LOT easier to shake a can than set up (then clean) a paint gun!

Bob, I have used it twice and really like it. It is a little shinier than the rattle cans, but is is really easy to clean and touch up. I think the color is close for the Chev Orange. A F**# friend of mine says the blue color in POR 15 is not close to original. Jim

Does that mean you have to wait for Charley to read it enough times to understand it!!! Jim
