Default Accessory dates

Help me settle an argument I had. I looked at a 68 camaro recently that the guy said is all original. It is a 327-210 hp car that all looks correct except that the Alternator and distributor dates are about 5 days after the engine assembly date. I say it is not possible but he contends this is what came on the car when he bought it in March 68. Thoughts

I beleive it, my '67 has a rear end that is 2 weeks after the trim tag date and I was the first to unbolt it.

I may be wrong here, but I think the distributor was installed at the engine plant and the alternator at the assembly plant. That would tell me the distributor is not original to the car.

Could the engine have sat for five days or more before the distributor was added? I suppose, but not likely.

Here again, just my understanding.

or had a issue when they tried to drive it off the line, and installed another part to get out of there.
