Default Fuel pump rebuilding

Has anybody been getting their fuel pumps returned? Fred Ballard has had 2 of mine since last April. I realize he's taking care of family. Thanks, Joe

Have you called Fred? He turned around the pump for my Dad's 442 that I sent him well after yours. While it was a survivor build, I dont think the restoration holds them back that much.

I have but he gets a little testy when you bug him with those type of questions. Rebuild survivors are done on a one by one basis. Maybe soon. Thanks, joe

Fred received one of my pumps a week ago. It’s a Survivor pump, so he kicks those out quicker since they don’t require coloring. Put SURVIVOR on the outside of the box.

Sent Fred a pump last August and he just recently got to it. I guess he has a few obstacles he deals with to include plating which is becoming almost extinct in CA. He also drives quite a distance almost every day to care for his wife. He works in batches so if you get quick service on a restoration you were lucky enough to catch his process just right.

I sent Fred my 40669 pump on June 4, 2021 for a full restoration. He acknowledged via email it arrived safely on June 10th. On Sept 14 I sent an email just checking on progress. I did not get a response. On Feb 1 Fred emailed to let me know my pump was getting sent out FedEx and gave a tracking number and I got it 2 days later. I was very happy with his work.

One thing he mentioned over and over is that he does these in a minimum of 20 per batch and generally does 2 to 3 a year. He said it takes quite a bit of time and that my typical wait could be 2-3 months or longer. Mine was 7 months. I did not mind as I never felt he was a scammer or a guy who would not come through.

I felt he was very straight forward about this and never did he over promise anything.

I would use him again. It was $250 plus $25 return shipping.

He did mention a quicker turnaround if I did the survivor rebuild with just new internals.
Sounds like he just dreads working with his plater.

It is probably a lot more work to keep the right parts with the right pumps and keep the parts clocked correctly, etc when sending out for plating. I imagine the parts need to be engraved on the inside to label which pump the housing belongs to and how the lower section is positioned in relation to the pump housing.
