Default Real story on 69 Camaro caliper date codes

Is there any definitive GM document that refers to date codes on 5463633 69 Camaro calipers. I’ve read a numbers of the threads on line and the majority believe the three digit number on the caliper is a Julian date code. But talking to others including Lone Star Caliper they say that the three digit number is not a date code, more likly a batch number. What’s the real story. Do judges consider that a date code. Just curious.

I may be able to shed some light for the single piston used during 1969/70 and up.
..from the 1970 GM technicians Engine/Trans./Axle component ID manual.

TXSS,

Do not expect to be able to actually read the date code. On the 633 the code is usually stamped on the lower right vs the lower left in the picture.

Also the font is about 1/3 to 1/2 as tall as in the picture. Usually you can make out one or two of the numbers.

I remember looking at about a dozen 633's. Only half even had one legible number.

Greg

Thanks for the responses. That is some helpful info.

Is there a 1969 GM technicians Engine/Trans./Axle component ID manual or would the same apply to 69?

Thanks

Either side pad is possible to show a date code.Rub some white powder in them to show up better.
My 69 tech manual shows the same.

On our '69 Chevelle calipers there is a three number code on the outboard boss. Rather hard to find unless you know where to look.
