Default Holley 3811 Carb 67 Vette 427/390HP Camaro L78 396

This is a Holley 3811 carburetor. The date is 673. This decodes as the 3rd week of July, 1966. Perfect for an early Camaro L78 or 427/390HP Vette. Looks clean and complete. The rear vent tube boss had a part broken off and epoxied back into place. It has the correct metering block. Missing choke pull off and other misc. choke parts. Very hard to find carb. $925

Can anyone confirm that this carb is correct for an early L78 Camaro? Someone told me Colvin's book was wrong. I think the book is right but want to make sure I am representing this carb correctly.

Thanks,
Jason

I have a Holley Carburetion ~ Carburetor Numerical Listings pn. 70099-8 dated 1980 that shows R-3811A as fitting

67 Camaro & Corvette , 302, 327 & 396 Eng.

It's not impossible that there are some errors in this publication, but that is the word straight from Holley.

The Holley book has mistakes also..especially Ford carbs.

Jason;

The 3811 is not correct for a `67 L78. The `67 L78 used a 3910 on 49 state applications and a 3911 on California models.

There are a LOT of errors that have been published in a variety of publications (including Holley's own master catalog) in regards to Holley carbs, but that's for another post. Suffice it to say, the books aren't 100% accurate.

OK, thanks guys. Eric, is this true even for early L78 cars? That is where Colvin's book does a break down. 3811 for early cars and 3910/11 for later built cars.

Thanks again,

Jason
