Interesting, so a 3.31 posi behind an L34 would have a different designation than CRV ??

correct, an L-34 would have either a CCF or CCW code.

Yeah, I looked at my notes of my '70 and it has a CCF 3.31 posi. Looking at Chevellestuff, I see the CRW is the only one designated as "heavy duty". So what is the difference between a CRV and CCF, other than the model it was installed in ?

The 454 Chevelle's have bigger yokes than the 396 Chevelle's so there are 4 different codes for 3.31 rear ends in 1970.
