Barrett Jackson Description


This striking 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W30 was restored to high show quality standards using mostly NOS parts and is original matching-numbers throughout. This authentic example was judged at the highest level by the Oldsmobile Club of America three times scoring a 995,996 and 998. It was awarded “First Place” and “Best of Class” at the OCA Nationals. It was also awarded “Best in Class” at the Louisville Concours D’Elegance and “Gold Concours Winner” at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals. All the awards are documented with judging sheets or the event magazines. The As the original VIN tag and Trim tag indicate this car was built on the third week of June in Lansing, Michigan and left the factory with a Sherwood Green exterior and Green interior. As the three original Broadcast sheets that are included indicate the actual build date was June 17th and it was equipped with the W30 option. From the information gathered the car was ordered with the following options: Sport mirrors, tinted glass, hood lock package, SSII wheels, sport steering wheel, interior light package including trunk light, stereo AM/FM radio, 8-track, rear defogger, dual gate with console, interior floor mats front and rear, 455 W30 Ram Air package, OW Automatic transmission, heavy duty cooling system, power steering and power disc brakes. This vehicle was purchased on June 13th, 1997 by Mr. Robert Traina who lived in Crown Point, Indiana. This information is documented with a copy of a title that’s included. This car was found in Oregon as an original rust free car with 50,000 original miles. Robert collaborated with his son Robert Jr who is a Purdue graduate in mechanical engineering to perform a complete body off restoration. Their vison was to build the most authentic Oldsmobile 442 W30 possible. They spent the next seven years searching for NOS parts and meticulously restoring the car using a 1970 factory assembly manual. There are over 200 photos of the NOS parts used and entire restoration process that are included. Upon completion of restoration in 2004 they drove the car a total of 460 miles shaking it down. It was purchased on November 26th, 2005 by Mr. Dennis Sullivan who lived in Lebanon, Ohio. This information is documented with eBay listing, Bill of Sale, Official Check and title that are all included. Dennis spent the next five years showing the car at all the various events where it achieved many prestigious awards. The exterior of this car is absolutely spectacular. It retains all original GM sheet metal and the body is extremely straight with precise gap lines. It was re-finished in its original color of Sherwood Green which is decorated with white stripes. The high show quality paint was recently detailed to brilliant appearance. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced with NOS parts. The car sits on NOS gray 14” steel wheels that are wrapped with G70-14 Goodyear Polyglas white-letter tires. The interior of this car complements the exterior perfectly. All of the green upholstery is original with exception of the front bucket seats which were recovered with original Green Madrid grain vinyl to match spot on. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced with NOS parts. The trunk compartment was accurately restored and includes an original factory painted spare. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with mostly NOS parts. It’s powered by the original matching numbers 455 V8 engine. The engine was completely rebuilt with NOS parts including a rare dealer installed 308 camshaft. The engine breathes through a NOS exhaust system. The engine is coupled to the original matching numbers OW transmission which was completely rebuilt. The power is transferred to the 12-bolt rear end with W-27 cover and NOS 3.91 gears. The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout with many NOS parts. This car was recently serviced and detailed which is documented with an invoice that’s included.
