Looking at a 1979 Z/28 to purchase.

Great looking and driving cars despite no HP. Interior quality and overall fit and fininish are a little lackluster, IMO.

1979 was a record year for both the Z/28 and Trans Am. The Z/28 was only 175 hp, but not TOO bad at the time (the dark days of performance) when coupled to a 4-speed. I do believe the 4-speeds received a 3.73 rear end though.

Automatics had 3.42 rear. I have a low mileage one. Its basically a cruiser.
4 speeds are more desirable IMO

Automatics had 3.42 gears 4 speed had 3.73 gears.The norwood cars I've seen has z28 on the cowl tag never seen a van nuys car with z28 on the cowl tag in 79

These cars are easy to document by getting a dealer invoice through the GM Media Archive for $50.00. This is available for any 1977 and newer Chevrolet at www.gmmediaarchive.com
