Default Motor question

I have a motor that I am not sure of what it was originally made for. Its a 512 block with an assembly code of TO31?CPD. The pad has been decked so that is why I cannot read the one number. There appears to be a vin but I can't read it. Casting date is C 4 71. Its a long block that turns over. No intake, distributor, etc. Also any idea as to what the value may be? Thanks in advance.

I would guess that it is worth $300 to $500 as a rebuildable core.

I would think at least twice that.
