Default GM 16 V-71 Insane Slingshot Cycle

I have seen a few of these two stroke Detroit Diesels put into rods and I thought they were mechanically over the top until I met the guy last night at the Wheelersburg Ohio cruise who created a sling shot cycle out of one.

Torque comes in at 2,150 lb⋅ft @ 1600 RPM
HP is stated as 800 hp @ 2100 RPM

The back story is that a hospital was being torn down and the stand by electrical generator was available for 49 cents a pound. So he purchased the entire unit for scrap sold the generator and began building a cycle around the engine.

Steering is motorcycle chain and gear.

It has a 12 Gallon diesel tank and it gets right around 10 MPG. Being a 16 cylinder the builder added more confusion by adding additional tubes to the header for a grand total of 10 each side. Loud does not begin to describe this thing. brake lights are tucked in between the two rear tires.

It has no frame, to ride you sit on the Transmission.

This engine is basically two V-8's bolted together by GM. Like it or hate it the head turning factor for this thing is flat off the scale.

If I dig thru my toolbox long enough I probably still have a tool for adjusting the injectors on that engine.

It is already on Transmission #2. Owner told me that he blew up the first Transmission with a "throttle blip"

He laughed about it and said the bike rolled nearly a quarter mile to a parts store on inertia - where he got a flat bed back to take it back to the house.

That's so wild. I missed this month's show at Wheelersburg, but did see another crazy creation there last month. It was a wild diesel trike along the lines of this one, but with giant ape-hanger-like handlebars. Wonder if it was the same guy?
