I’m wondering if that might be the original paint?

I doubt it. But then, there’s nothing written about the drivetrain either.
Must be new marketing tactic. Say nothing that way those guys on the Bulletin Boards can talk crap about whether my car is Fake, a Clone, a Restamped Engine, unrestored or survivor. It’s a Red 67 SS with Red Bench Seat interior. 4 speed. 396/325hp Buy Me |

I just cannot imagine someone “restoring” that car and adding the stripe. It had to be done nearly fifty years ago, don’t ya think?

In 1967, I could see someone looking at a 67 Camaro on the lot and telling the salesman, "I want that stripe on this Chevelle". Seems plausible.

But what may I ask makes you “consider” it would be an original paint car? Are you seeing something that points to that even being a consideration?
Just curious... love good conversations about cars. IMO one of a few things is going on here with this car. All of which points to the price which is below current market value in my experience and I deal with em all. 1. It’s pig with lipstick. 2. Non original drivetrain 3. Has serious unseen rust issues 4. VIN Tag non orig rivets 5. All previous and current owners don’t have a clue as to value of 67 SS? Above is conjecture and guessing only. As there is no information to lead anyone to know anything more than what they see. Some pictures, that’s it. Now, if I were at all interested in the car... I’d not be here hypothesizing., I’d be calling the number. Asking questions. Getting lots more photos etc etc. I see a shiny Red Car. A age appropriate looking interior with Day 2 gauges and shifter, an engine bay that looks like a couple thousand other engine bays on cars that get driven. Sorry for my long wind. Just a slow Friday and as I said, if a car is posted.... might as well discuss it. Mike |

Hello Mike,
What tells you its a non-original drivetrain? What gives you concern about rust issues? I haven't seen a photo of the VIN tag... with non original rivets? All good points, if you've confirmed them. Perhaps just wishful thinking on my part. I'm not looking at the car in terms of making a bid, so easy for me to give it the benefit of the doubt. Thanks!

There is no description written. Nothing!!! Nothing at all. I said, for this car to be listed at this price., IN MY OPINION....I would think or wonder if any of the things I listed might be the case Like., drivetrain? No mention of anything about it, so one should consider it's likely not original until proof shown otherwise., especially given below market price. VIN TAG.... not shown, maybe it's got repop rivets.... Have to see this to know., could be reason why priced below market value. Not saying it is., just can't see it Rust. Usually in my experience when a car LOOKS Nice and Shiny on the exterior as this car does, old and crusty underhood and interior as shown, and rubbers around trunk wasted, tail pipe showing rust....it's been more than likely repainted ( quick flip ) but I don't know this to be the case, just how I approach an eBay or Craigslist car when a seller doesn't have enough sense to write anything about the car. The term Pig with Lipstick could apply. Or maybe this is a REAL 67 SS with original born with drivetrain, original beautiful paint, well cared for for years!! and nobody at Mecum auction noticed. Maybe the current owner doesn't know values? Maybe nobody looking at it on eBay sees this is a diamond in the rough!! Probably has a POP and Build Sheet too LOL., one never knows .... But this ain't my first rodeo and I'd be looking at this car in person on a lift if I was a potential buyer or having someone look at it for me. So, all to say.... It's easy to make assumptions based on no knowledge and I'll keep beating the drum for people to do their homework. Read between the lines when someone says something and when they don't. Pretty Car |

There is a picture of the VIN tag in the Mecum link, but it's too distant to see much.

Nice looking car. If it was in fact original paint, I would leave the white stripe on it, especially if there was some paperwork from back int he day supporting it.
Engine bay looks like it was spray bombed. |
