I used to always fly in and inspect them myself, but after wild goose chases to Texas and Idaho, I try and find a forum friend close by and pay them a couple of hundred dollars to go and take a look for me. Most of the time, they see things that I missed because they aren’t emotionally invested in the purchase.

1. 1970 RS Z28. SURVIVOR. Original Paint. Cranberry Red with black stripes...G.M.-Documented with papers. CE Block LT-1, M-22 ROCK CRUSHER, 12 bolt 4.10s.
Just have the seller send you some high quality photos of the VIN under the windshield, on the transmission, on the engine block and a photo of the stamping on the rear.

Car could be a hodge-podge of drivetrain components: Corvette Motor, Chevelle Transmission, 3.55 rear with 4.10 gears.

Default Anyone here have a sure fire way of buying a car out of state without getting stung i

In the past I bought cars off of the internet trusting the seller then I was stung badly by a person that misunderstood the words rust free did not mean free rust. It was a mess of a Nova when I got it and was nothing like he said it would be or anything like the pictures. Do yourself a favor and always go inspect the car to make sure it is to your liking before you spend the money. If you end up with the car that you do not want then you have to sell it to the next guy and that can create a bunch of issues that are no fun.

Ziggy, the big red flags to me is his willingness to sell rolling with no motors/trans? Even the survivor '70 RS Z28 willing to take the motor out? Just seems to willing/eager to change around cars that have me skeptical? Like the original DZ BORN WITH 302 have been located and can be bought separately?

Do diligence is needed for sure.

Hi. On the 1970 Z28.
If everything looks good can you put it in my driveway in Toronto for $44000 ?
Are you a dealer?Do you own all these cars or on confinement? How long have you had this one?Does it need anything?Do you have the stock wheels, exhaust manifolds or any other original parts?
Sorry for all the questions. I am in Toronto and it is a bit of a drive to see the car.
Thanks Ken

We should probably have a phone conversation. These are my personal cars. I recently sold two of my cars to guys in Ontario...one went enclosed transport and one on a car carrier...I'm sure we can figure that out. I bought the'70 RS Z28 in 1997. I sold it in 2009...I bought it back in 2018 as per an agreement made with the friend that I sold it to in 2009. When I bought it back in 2018 it came with a September 2018 appraisal of $50,000 CAD from the most qualified appraiser in Calgary...it has gone up in value since then...and is destined to be a "big dollar" car in the near future as original paint M-22 '70 RS Z28s are extre, ely rare...but you know that (hopefully)...REASON FOR SELLING: I recently sold my large storage facility and started selling off my cars...had 25 and have sold 16 over the past year. I mothballed my acreage/business in Alberta and moved to Saskatoon to hang out with my mother who is 90 and needed a bit of help and support...I'm at 306-241-5476.

Thanks to all who posted. Here are the PMs.

If you search "Gib Jones Calgary" on Facebook you should be able to find me...Then you can message me and we can "try" to have a call...don't know if it will work as I noticed that I have be having issues...I do not spend much time online and I don't type...that is why I suggested a phone conversation.
Thanks,
Gib

It isn't a scam...Just haven't been online as I have been working outdoors...and freezing my ass off.
Sure, I can pick you up...as long as everyone is wearing masks. I'm basically living in quarantine with my 90 year-old mother and take few risks these days.
BUT...before we do any of that...we need to have an ACTUAL CONVERSATION as I have been dealing with countless people...some real...some scammers...and need to know who I'm dealing with.
Feel free to contact me any time...306-241-5476

By the way...if you think the prices I have listed are "ridiculous"...We don't need to continue...I have SOLD 16 out of my 25 cars...every buyer satisfied because I'm selling them cars that are GOING UP IN VALUE. These cars are for people who have money and know what these cars are worth...and they are not afraid to INVEST their money in something that is SAFE.

So the price is what the car MAY be worth in 5-6 years...

You got a cool '68 to play with, no need to continue with him...

Ken, really. This guy must have "FUZZY" hair, big read nose with shoes to match. Last employed by Barnum and Baily?????

Seems like your looking at the '70 RS/Z28. Nice car these are. Ok he claims it's a big dollar car (as you should know???? LOL) that is only going up in value. Yet for a guy selling suck cars, he's not even taking 10% of "appraised" value? I know personally of many many cars that sell for what 2/3's to 75% of appraised value.

And, being such a rare, high dollar SURVIVOR car, we would consider selling without the engine??????? So sounds like NOT numbers matching or born-with car to start with.

Your a more patient and understanding guy then I am. Good luck
