There were a bunch of cool drag cars at Maple Grove that year. Here is the first installment.

G. Hunter's 56 Bel Air with a blown 548 running on E85. He was running 8.60's at this time and won True Street at this event. He is a regular True Street competitor at Super Chevy Shows and he does Drag Week as well. This car has been featured in the Super Chevy and Hot Rod.

R. O'Neill's 64 Impala SS had a 414ci small block with EFI and a 5 speed and ran 10.70's. It was featured in the August 2013 issue of Super Chevy.

Sweet SS/M 60 Corvette had a 311ci small block with dual fours and ran low 9's.

Clean 64 Chevy II SS had a 414ci small block and ran high 10's. He was a True Street competitor as well.

Nice Pro Street 66 Chevy II had a big block and ran low 9's.

67 Chevy II with a 412ci small block that ran low 9's.

Another clean 67 Chevy II. This one had a 410ci small block and ran high 8's.

68 Chevy II with a 421ci small block ran mid 9's.

Nice 72 Nova had a small block on NOS and ran mid 9's.

Great pics, as always, but man, are there any 66-67 Chevy II's that weren't tubbed, ugh.

Cool fiberglass 66 Chevelle SS with a 522 was running 8.30's.

Robert Schmitt's 67 Chevelle SS with a 588 on NOS with a 5 speed ran mid 8's in street legal trim. This car is a former Hot Rod Pump Gas Drags winner. He did a huge wheelstand on Sunday afternoon. Hopefully this link to the video works. Weelstand

Sleeper 70 Chevelle SS with a 582 ran high 9's.

A. Parise's 67 Camaro with a supercharged 540 ran low 9's.

Another nice 67 Camaro. This one had a 598 and ran mid 9's.

Clean 68 Camaro RS/SS had a 632 and ran mid 8's.

Real neat 10 Camaro with original body panels and a full interior with power windows. It had a 600ci big block on alcohol and ran mid 8's.

This is one of the nicest Vega drag cars I've seen.

Here's something a little different. This is H. Gates' 61 Studebaker with a big block that was running mid 8's.

Here are a few show cars from the Super Chevy Show in Phoenix in 2011. My sister lives north of Phoenix in Anthem so I timed a trip to visit her with this show.

B. Kraus' 55 Bel Air with an LS-1. I believe the paint was Lexus Red and Cashmere.

L. Christensen's 55 Nomad with a ZL-1. This car was featured in the 2012 issue of Chevy Classics put out by Super Chevy.

E. Newton's 56 Corvette with an LT-4.

K. DeWitte's Gold Class 65 Malibu SS L79. This is a numbers matching car with an M20 and 4.11 gears. It's documented with a POP and was sold new at Success Motors in Tahlequah OK. It was featured in the July 2011 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines.

L. Hoctor's 65 Malibu SS with a Ram Jet 502.

R. Fitzpatrick's 69 Chevelle SS L78 is a numbers matching 4 speed car that is documented with it's build sheet. It was featured in the April 2013 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines.

L. Christensen's 67 Indy Pace Car Camaro is an original 4K L78 car.

M. Arcaro's 69 Z/28 from California.

P. Hayden's Gold Class 69 big block Camaro. This car won Best of Show. I believe it's also been at MCACN.

Here are a couple of drag cars from the same event.

D. Withers' 48 pickup with a 565 on NOS ran 7.70's.

K. Spoth's 66 Chevy II had a 434 with dual Dominators and ran 8.80's.

Clean 68 Camaro had a 434 and ran low 10's. On the bottle it supposedly ran high 8's.
