Re: Goodyear E-70-15 GT WIDE TRACK NOS
Foster
Based on my research done on the web page below, I have come to the following conclusion for the tire with a DOT code CYUYB3EX1260 as shown on your tire. a) CY indicates the tire was manufactured by the McCreary Tire & Rubber Company in Pennsylvania. Did they ever manufacture Goodyear reproduction tires? b) UY indicates the size which translates to a 245/75-16 Cooper or if it is OY it would be a 245/60-16 Goodyear. Neither of these possible codes correlate with the size E70-15. c) B3EX is a code for the particular tire as determined by the manufacturer. d) 1260 indicates a date code; they were 3 digits (the first 2 digits indicate the week & the last 1 the year) before 2000 & 4 digits afterward. I'm at a loss to what this 4 digit code means since only 01 through 15 should have been used to indicate manufacture years 2001 through 2015. It actually might be 126 which would mean the 12th week of 1966, 1976, 1986, or 1996. Are you as confused as I am? The bottom lime seems to indicate that the tire is not the original spare. IMHO I also wonder why I obsess about such a topic? http://www.barrystiretech.com/dotcoding.html

Re: Goodyear E-70-15 GT WIDE TRACK NOS
Goodyear tires from 1966-69 had seven (7) characters in the tire code...a mixture of letters and digits. In 1970-71 they became eight (8) characters...all letters. The tires from 1966-1971 had VYTACORD POLYESTER CORD embossed on the sidewall.
Reproduction tires had a twelve (12) character tire code beginning with CYUY (see pic below). The sidewall reads POLYESTER CORD. NOTE: The tire pictured below has a tire code ending in '704'; which is the month, '7' (July) and year '04' (2004) of production. The lone difference on the tire code in my sample versus the one being sold in this thread is the date of production.
