Next year the Angels get the Super Hornets, bigger, louder, faster. Can't wait!

Every year I was living in Ft. Lauderdale they held the Air Show along the beaches. Supposedly the biggest outdoor event ever held - well over a million people showed up. You would see aircraft like the B1B Bomber, the B2 Spirit and lots of vintage Mustangs and Corsairs. But the highlight of the show was always The Blue Angles. They did this one particular "stunt" where all but one of the planes were preforming aerial acrobatics in front of you. One would drop down to just over wave height and go screaming along the beaches at just under supersonic speed. Then all of a sudden the last plane came from inland heading out over the ocean at just a few hundred feet above the crowds heads at again just under supersonic speed. The noise was deafening and it blew all the beach umbrellas all over the place.

Worked on the 27th floor of the Hancock for several years and it was fun to watch the Blue Angels practice for the annual airshow. Also a bit of a trick to watch, since the sound trailed the jets so you couldn't hear 'em coming - kinda had to keep an eye out, but they'd come by at eye-level which was pretty cool. Go Navy!
